Fancy Farm is a beautiful 17th century, Devon longhouse, set in an acre of garden. Although no longer a working farm, the house is set amidst farmland on the edge of the village of Dunkeswell.

We like to consider you as our house guests rather than traditional B&Bers who often get kicked out after breakfast and are not allowed back until bedtime. So you'll get a warm welcome with the offer of tea and cake in the library or in the garden and then you're free to come and go as you please.
Breakfast is served between 8 and 9 (or if you have an early start at an hour to suit you) in the beamed dining room which, in winter months has a log fire blazing in the hearth. For our English breakfast we use local produce, sausages and bacon from local organic farmers and free range eggs. Jams and preserves come from the ladies of the W.I. and the bread from the Honiton bakers is much enjoyed by all our guests. Tea is from a pot on the aga, coffee, freshly ground and milk straight from the village farm.

We don't serve evening meals but there are a wealth of local pubs and restaurants, worth a special mention is the Drewe Arms. A 16th century inn just 3 miles away in Broadhembury, it's renowned for its fish and is mentioned by Rick Stein in his latest volume. Alternatively you're welcome to get fish and chips from the local (excellent) take away and we'll supply the cutlery!

The Old Hay Loft, at the eastern end of Fancy Farm, above the former stables, is a self- contained flat offering self-catering accommodation for two, all year round, for stays of 2 nights or more. Details may be requested from our letting agents Rural Retreats on (01386) 701177.
